Kentucky Credit Union League Professional Development Scholarships

The Kentucky Credit Union League provides limited educational scholarships which may be utilized for the professional development of individuals in the credit union movement. Granting scholarships maximizes the opportunity for Kentucky credit unions to use development activities to:

  • Create commitment among individuals to the credit union movement.
  • Continuously reinforce the value of credit unions to the financial well-being of its members.
  • Develop the knowledge and skills of staff and volunteers to they can serve the credit union movement through their high-quality performance.
  • Promote the continued existence of Kentucky’s credit unions.
  • Promote participation in educational programs among credit unions that may not participate because of financial need.
General Guidelines
Scholarships will be granted for education programs produced by the Kentucky Credit Union League until the budgeted funds are used.

Only one scholarship per credit union will be granted for each educational or training program produced by Kentucky Credit Union League.

Scholarships must be used only for the program for which it was granted. With approval from the League President and/or the League Education Director, individuals may substitute other individuals from the same credit union. If the grant is not used for the program for which it was awarded, the grant will be returned to the scholarship fund and reassigned at a later date at the discretion of the League President and/or the League Education Director.

Qualification Guidelines for Credit Unions
Individuals from credit unions with assets of less than $20 million qualify for scholarships granted for the program fee. These credit unions may receive scholarship grants up to a maximum of $600 per year.

Individuals from credit unions with assets of $20 million to $50 million qualify for scholarships granted for the program fee. These credit unions may receive scholarship grants up to a maximum of $300 per year.

Individuals from all credit unions whose circumstances at the time of the educational activity prevent participation. Circumstances include unplanned increased expenditures, unplanned changes in staff or overall operations, or other unplanned events preventing participation.

Southeast CUNA Management School Scholarships

Southeastern Regional Credit Union Schools (SRCUS), in partnership with the seven Southeastern credit union leagues, invites interested applicants to apply for scholarships to attend the 2024 Southeast CUNA Management School June 16-21, 2024.

The Southeast CUNA Management School utilizes faculty from the University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business as well as industry experts. It is a three-year curriculum where students participate on campus each summer for six days. Throughout the year, student apply their knowledge to projects that require strategic analysis of their credit union and research relevant issues facing the industry.

This scholarship program provides $3,000 in scholarships per state, to be awarded to students based on future management potential, involvement in the credit union movement, positions held, and other supportive criteria. The scholarship program is open to all professionals from League-affiliated credit unions. Scholarships recipients must reapply each year.

To apply, prospective students must:

  • Be employed at a credit union with assets less than $250M
  • Complete the application
  • Include a copy of the credit union’s year-end financial statement
  • Include a letter of recommendation from your credit union supervisor or official
  • Return both to Janet Garrett by April 26, 2024

Additionally, scholarship applicants are encouraged to proceed with 2024 registration for this year’s program via www.srcus.org to ensure their spot in the class.

Those awarded a scholarship will be notified by June 5, 2024 and will be reimbursed for registration fees. If approved, you must redeem this scholarship within the awarded year.
