Program participants will be divided into groups in which they will complete a community-based service learning project.  Community service is action within a community involving people coming together to work on a common good.  Combining the definition with learning is what community-based service learning is all about – activities that meet genuine community needs and require the application of knowledge, skill, and reflection time.  Participants will be engaged with assessing community needs, and reflecting before, during, and after the service experience.

The project will be presented by each group as a breakout session at the League’s Annual Meeting and Convention.

Note:  The program allows some time on meeting dates for groups to discuss project plans.  However, additional hours outside of scheduled work hours may be required.
